My 87 honda fourtrax is acting like its sucking air and i dont know how to fix it any suggestions please

Its a 250 it does it with or wo the filter on it but worse with the filter i cant find a hole in the fuel line have adjusted the air flow dont know what else to do.

they all suck air in, if they did not ?, they won't run !..lol. now..if they blow air back out of the carb ?, this is a cam chain/timing issue.

if its sucking air, would that not be the intake?

sucking air , makes me think you are suggestion a leak on the intake boot , there is a oring between the boot and the jug and the boot itself could have a hole or split in it , with the engine running you can spray starting fluid around the boot , if there is a leak , the fluid will suck through it and the rpms will increase ------- I am with Shade on timing chain slack . And or low compression being it is 30 years old I would do a compression test first thing
