Ok, I'm dirt poor. I know, I know. I picked and expensive hobby to BE dirt poor in, but god help me I love being able to fly with 4 wheels.

Anyway, I'm in the market for a muffler. My SuperTrapp gets the cops called on me for noise complaints.

It needs to be under 200$, 92-95db range. And I KNOW I'm not gonna get the top dog of the performance department, but I'd like a small gain over stock at least.

Here is what I've found...

Phoenix Honda 400EX Spiral Core Slip-on Exhaust = $177.77
Dunno much about the Phoenix. Reviews from seller on amazon are ok. Thats always a good sign. But hard to find preformance and db specs on it.

DG PERFORMANCE EXHAUST RCM II S/O 400EX EXHAUSTS RCM II SLIP ONS = $157.95
Again, no db or hp stats, but VERY BAD reviews from people on ebay. Not a fav.

TRX 400EX TRX400EX Slip on Exhaust Pipe Lexx MXe = US $170.00
Looks good, db for racing spec 99 and 93 with quiet core. Claims of average increase of 3 horsepower. Best so far.

Can anyone make any recommendations/endorsements for any of these three or maybe your own? My limit $ amount is 200.

I would go with none and look for the FMF full for $249. Just save a little bit more. :) Sorry we missed this post!

I would buy a stock pipe on ebay 40-50$. Then spend the rest of $ on some mods that you will get some real performance out of. Like a cam and a + 6 deg. flywheel key. If you want to spend 200 on a slip on there is the lexx, big gun (new). Might be able to find a used to find a used white bros. or hmf.
Out of the 3 you have links for I would go with the lexx.

Go with the Lex pipe. They actually used the same design as Yoshimura's older pipes. To put a stock pipe back on and then add a cam would be corking up the machine big time.

You will be very happy with the Lex system. Of like stated, you can save a little more ond get the FMF full system.

^^^^ Agree, stay away from DG, I have a Lexx and its a good pipe for the price, however, if you can, spend the extra $50 and buy an HMF system! But my Lexx has been good to me.

Agree. Lexx is pretty nice for the price. Silencer will keep you in the sub 96Db range. Take it out if you wanna piss them off for a good laugh.

Ya, its loud with the silencer out, I didn’t realize it until I let a buddy take it down the road wide open. I felt so bad for the neighbors I put the silencer back in a few days later.

too loud supertrap

i had a supertrap ids2 on my 400ex. it is a very loud pipe. the posts from those other guys is wrong. the more discs you put in the bigger an area for the exhaust to go out and gets louder. so the more discs you take out there is a smaller area so it gets quieter it says it in the papers i got with my pipe. make sure the end cap "sparker arrester" isnt missing. hopefully this will save you some $. if not i would go with the lexx. it looks like a great pipe . the hmf pipe is really loud
