So I've been doing a bunch of work to the old 300 lately, and am getting close to finishing up. Gonna be installing my new winch this weekend and figure while I'm down there why not throw a little homemade lift under it. Seems a few of you guys run 2" spacers on the shocks. Just two questions.. what's the probability of things tearing themselves up with going that route? Seems most don't have a problem with them, but I've read some horror stories. Second question, who wants to be so kind as to write up a little DIY for me? I noticed submarine has a homemade one on his.

I sure hope I make you guys proud with the before and after pics of all the new toys on it when it's all said and done. Excited to see what ya'll think.

Actually my lift is not homemade. But it would be fairly simple to do. And I would not go any more than
1.5" because it just puts to much stress on the axles. I've measured the travel of the 300 and it tops out at 3" so a 2" lift would be to much imo unless you go with heavier joints like I have done. The shock mount relocation can be made from heavy walled 1.5" square tubing with the bolt holes drilled 1.5" apart on center. Then you will have to either tack weld the rear mount to the housing or attach a metal bracket to the housing and the mount to keep it in place.

I appreciate the info, I'll be welding on the 300 tomorrow so I just might take a leap and fab something up. I read on another post you said to use 3x3 1/4" steel plates, but now you say the square tubing is better. I assume it's just to make the brace a little stronger?

yep the plates tend to want to shift around more.

Well, decided to skip the lift for now. Got the winch mounted up though. Maybe there could be a tire upgrade/gear reduction/lift project on down the line, but not right now. Thanks for all the help though.
