Hi everybody ive had a history of the 400ex in my family with older family memebers having them when they came out i was about 13 or so and drooling over them and i told myself one day ill buy one. that time has come...... i got a 00 honda 400ex with nerf bars jaws bumper moose handle bars custom grips and other add ons i love the bike its a fun toy and the new ITP tires all around help aswell. i do have a Q im having a funny ticking noise when i push it backwards?? any ideas? seems like the chain is rubbing on something ??? and another thing when i ride it for awhile and shut her down it seems like something in the back pops randomly.? with the bike off..? just wondering if anybody has experianced this or has any idea what im talking about?? thanks!!! ;) ill be here frequently learn the name hahaha. i am in the automotive field so the DUMB Q's will be limited haha thanks again guys and or gals.

Welcome to the forums. Your chain may need to be tightened up some.

I can't think of anything that would make a popping noise in the rear after you cut it off, unless it's just the pipe cooling off.

i think it is the pipe man thats what i was thinking... but how do i tighten the chain exactly? never took time to look over bike yet just threw some bolt ons on her hahaha but yeah it does have some nice slack

yeah i putted around today listened for it and yes its just the metal from the exhaust cooling... but for the chain i think mine is just wore out and stretched??? i jammed a prybar to pull her forward and tightened the 4 bolts on the swingarm and still slacky. :( and as for the manual i got a print out of 1 coming to me for free all 260 pages of it haha

thanks man! im thinking i need new axle carrier bearings or housing or something because its loose side to side and up and down... ?

Yeah, I would say that's the problem with his as well.
