I have a 1986 TRX 250,the first 4 wheel drive made I think. The alternator stator coil (part # 31120-HA0-023)https://www.hondapartshouse.com/oemparts/a/hon/506bad47f870023420a21552/alternator,is shot. I can't find the exact part # replacement even on ebay. I did find a coil from a 1985 TRX 250 (part # 31120HA0-013.) https://www.hondapartshouse.com/oemparts/a/hon/506bacaaf870023420a21522/alternator. I was wondering if this would work in the 1986 model. Anyone have that kind of specific knowledge? Please respond. Dan:funnysuzuki: This is the part I found. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Stator-311...ash=item2ccaafece7:g:OPkAAOSws6ZaHY-C&vxp=mtr

1985 trx250 4-wheel drive ?..no such thing. the stator will only work if you match it to the same flywheel of that 1985, as they must be a matching set, or won't work. as for the first 4-wheel drive atv from Honda ?, it was a 1986 trx350 fourtrax :).

Need to know if this is really a 250 or a 350.

Shouldn't be too hard to find another stator but you need to know if its a Denso or Mitsuba to match up with the flywheel you have, otherwise you could replace both as a set and that should work. I see a few on ebay some are even NOS. Including this one which is actually the part number you provided....

Sorry it's a 350 not a 250 but not an 85 it's an 86 like the post says.I have an 86 250 2 wheel drive also. I also have an 84 200 2 wheel drive.

It's a 350 not 250. I misspoke. I do have an 86 250 and an 84 200 also. I found that ebay post also but would rather not spend that kind of money. Looking for a good used one. The one from Dans ATV salvage is only about $100 if it will work. It's the hao-013 not the hao-023 though. It's only from the year 85 not 86. Not sure what the difference is though.

Looks like its the same part # for the 87 model also. These were built solid. I have an 86 250 and and 84 200 2 wheel drive also and can't kill em. i use the 350 alot more so parts will wear out sooner. Replacing the 1 way clutch in in the 4 wheeler too. Beats $8000 or more for something I only use for 2 months a year at the hunting cabin. I don't want to leave a new one alone in the mountains for 10 months where it could get ripped off. Who's gonna steal an 86? LOL

I have two 350D parts bikes at the moment. I'm not sure what year they are but can look in the morning. If I have what you need I'd sell cheaper than ebay. I'm going to move these to my farm shop and strip them for parts in the near future.

You'd be surprised what people will steal. lol

I believe you are correct on the 86-87 interchanging. I was thinking the electrical system was completely different on the 87+ but it must have been 88 they changed it. Shade knows more than I do about the 350's he would know best.

Yep, 87 was the final year for the TRX350 Fourtrax and was the first year for the TRX350D Foreman. The 87 TRX350D wiring, switches & ignition system parts (except for the coil, pulse gen and spark plug) will not interchange with any other year or model 350. While 88 & 89 350D wiring, switches & Ignition parts are interchangeable among those two years. So there are three TRX350 versions in total, not two... actually four versions if you count the differences between the 86 & 87 350 Fourtrax models. It confuses the crap outta people looking for parts!

I wonder why they did that ------- I have heard that you'll can still get a Ford 7.3 in Canada and also in Mexico , can't get them in the USA any more , would guess it is considered a dirty running engine on the EPA list here

Not sure, they certainly don’t sell them between the frame rails of a truck but I guess it’s possible that Navistar stilll sells the 7.3 as a crate engine, although generally we go by the same emission standards as you guys do.
