Mac has some nice mods up there ^ I like that homemade 424 ---

I like the 424 kickout as my number one mod , then maybe disc conversion on the front , 250/350 rear end mod , reduction gear if your want big tires , a cam either from a 1st gen 300 , 250 ES or Fourtrax will give you a little more umph ------- no even sure if it is available for a 2000 think it stops at 98 , but a Genuine Rick's No Limit CDI seems to help a bit , I have one on my 95 , was getting 6K before the box , after the CDI it will exceed 7K , it is also suppose to change the timing curve , if you are going to replace the cam chain at any time , try to find a sprocket from a ATC250ES and use it and a 250 chain as they are heavier duty , the sprocket is no longer available OEM , but they pop up every now and then new on e-bay ---- also run the same size tire front and rear , people will say don't do it , it will cause damage , I been doing it since day one on multiple 300's and never experiences a problem from it yet

I should think the lightened flywheel combined with a Ricks CDI would make a 300 feel quite responsive! I never thought about lightened flywheels when I had mine, good work Mac!

Tell me more ab that 424 drive shaft!? Pros and cons!? Reasoning for!? And maybe a how to post!?

You could buy the mass produced one by Wide Open for around $350-400 but I made this up for about $10. I wouldn’t run it like I did on something with big tires I doubt it will hold up but on stock size tires I’m sure it’ll be fine. I don’t want to get into a full how to right now, maybe later on I’ll do a build thread in this particular machine. But basically it’s just the stock driveshaft cut in two and a nut welded on either side of the cut, then a socket fits over the shaft and covers the nuts to lock it in 4wd or slides back off the nuts to unlock it into 2wd. That’s the simple version of it, or course there is more to it than that but that will give you the basic principle.
