Expressed my anger on another forum but thought you Honda owners should know!! Anyways....
Ok so sometime in May i was riding the xx through some rough trails when the steering stem just let go causing me to loose steering resulting in a little roll-over, wasn't going fast due to being rough so luckily didnt get hurt but was very pissed. Anyways took it back to the dealer i got it from in Feb. of 2010, told to took check it out for warranty, told them if they wouldnt cover it dont fix it cuz i would just buy one aftermarket and fix it myself. They said no problem they will tear it down, take some pictures and send them in to honda to get approved. Couple days later i called and they told me no problem parts would be in by the end of the week. So he called the end of the week and told me to come get it and that was that. well today some 93 days later i get a phone call from the dealer, telling me that Honda Denied the warranty claim and he would be sending me the letter from Honda ALONG WITH THE $273 BILL!! Told me there was a -800 number i could call and talk to Honda about it. I was so pissed i didn't know what to say to him so just ok we'll be in touch. But i think this is the most ridiculous stunt thats ever been pulled, and in no way to i feel obligated to pay the bill 93 days after the claim was filed. O yea they said the claim was denied due to mis-use of the machine or from accidental damage.

well....unless you had someone ridding with you that day..and can speak on your behalf....and tell honda or whoever what happened..i'd say your gonna have a hard time proving you didn't cause the wreck. yeah..i know..you got a raw deal from your dealer..and you may get out of that bill..or you may not..depends if you go about it right..and speak to the right ppl at honda..try getting in touch with someone high up at honda..i'm sure if you go over the jerk wads head that the dealer said to talk too..you will get something done..worse case..if you don't do something..that dealer..or even honda for that matter ( and i'm putting my money on your dealer )..will try to screw the next person just like they did you..see..i stand up for my rights..always have..always will..i got that old saying alot..'' you can't fight city hall ''..BS!!..you can fight them..thats the problem today..alot of ppl don't want to get involved..and speak thier mind..soooooooo..you get companies like your honda dealer that wants to screw ppl over..stand up..be counted..i almost bet you will get out of that bill..JUST DON'T LOSE YOUR COOL !.. and you will win.

They cannot tell you that they will cover something under warranty, repair it for you, and then 3 months later send you a bill for service. Tell them to eat d&#k. Ask a lawyer that offer free consultations.

Exactly Redracer, I just don't see how they think they can do that. Just like anything else that might need warranty work done. No matter what, the warranty must be approved b4 they fix it not after, what sense does that make. For example if I bought a new car and say the motor blew because I did or didnt maintain it properly, the dealer would need to determine the cause and find out if the warranty covers it or not. Dont say yup ok were putting a new motor in and then turn around 3 months later and say o hey by the way you ran ur car outta oil so were not going to cover that. same deal, Reguard less if the Failed steering stem was my fault or not, that should have been determined b4 my machine was fixed.

You should have some paper work from the repair that states no charge warranty....
Make some calls to the dealership and honda. If they will not work with you. Tell them you are going to call.
1-Lawyer
2-Better Business Bureau.
3-Local rep.
4-Senators
5-Local news paper, letter to editor

Tell them-
1-What they have done is fraud, and it is immoral and unethical and you will not stand for it.
2-You will spend so much time dealing with customer service and other departments it will be cheaper to make the bill go away because they are going to spend far more $ in time dealing with you. * Then start asking foolish questions in a polite manner and make them spend a hour on the phone with you. At the end of the conversation Tell them you are unsatisfied with the answers and will call them the next day to continue the conversation...Always get the name and ID # of the person you are speaking to and when you call the next day speak to the same person. Do this for as long as it takes
3- If they sell other brands tell them you are going to reach out to the other local reps. for the other brands. To inform them of the fraud.

This has worked very well for me in the past.

Steering Stem

This is to make you aware of the fact, that the steering stems on the 700xx
have and will break for no apparent reason !My son was riding his 08 700xx at the house on a clear path with some hills when the steering stem broke (it was the cleanest break i've ever seen) flipping the four wheeler and putting him I.C.U for 5 days !. Took the four wheeler back to the dealership where he bought it new,and is now getting the run around. They had a area rep come by to take pictures, still no word from "HONDA". search other posts and you will see this is not a one time thing,if anyone else has had this problem let me know !
Honda needs to be made aware of this so no one else gets hurt or worse!!!
