Steering Shaft / Tie Rod Connection

853 Views 4 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  retro
Just a quick question, I recently noticed that one of my tie rod ends needed replacing, so I ordered a new one and started the procedure of installing it. upon inspection i noticed the "Arm, Steering" component, the part that connects the tie rods to the steering shaft looked off, as in bent? I remove it from the column and placed it on level ground and sure enough its bent, well looks like it anyway. However, the part looks cast and I was under the impression that it would just crack rather than bend? so my question is, is the part [part number 53235HP5600] suppose to be shaped like this?

Please refer to the attached image for clarification.

Thanks.

Looks about right to me.

Let's face it, it's not like we're looking at precision steering/ components here.

If it were twisted badly I might replace it, but I'd run that as pictured.
