If any of you have tried a stealth muffler to quiet down your ride only to find out that you sacrifice mucho power and acceleration for the luxury of slinking by quietly, I have the solution for you. (See attached file) I cut a 1 inch hole in the front tube leading to the stealth muffler and welded in a 1 inch nipple. To that I screwed on a 1 inch ball valve. under normal driving I keep the ball valve open and enjoy full power. When I need to quietly slide through an area without arousing attention I close the ball valve and have full stealth capabilities. The ball valve I use has a nylon bearing surface so I don't know how long it will stand up to the heat but if it fails I will just screw on another kind of all metal valve.

The muffler I use is a Benz stealth muffler and it is attached to an '02 Honda Rancher. The muffler is fabulously quiet but, contrary to what their ad says, it will noticeably cut down on your performance due to too much back pressure.

why didn't u just use a pipe cap? pretty good idea it just looks like you can give your bike an enema now. you know those ball valves have plastic seals around the ball inside right? What happens to plastice under alot of heat?

I thought of a pipe cap but on the fly a valve is easier to use. In my post, I mentioned my reservation about the nylon seal of the valve. I will probably wind up using a cap or something else if the seal melts. your right on about the enema! LOL.
