Hi I have a 1985 big red 300cc I usually do not start it during the winter months, this summer i when i tried to start it there is a clicking noise from the starter, one click when i push the start button. I orignally thought that this might be due to the battery so i fully charged it however it has made no difference.
Is there anything else i can do?
Does this require a new starter?

Thankyou

Could be the solenoid. Find it, push the start button, and rap the solenoid with a screwdriver. If it starts, swap the solenoid. If it doesn't, jump across the solenoid or use jumper cables and jump directly to the starter. If it starts, swap the solenoid. If it still doesn't, swap the starter.

It could still be the battery though, so might want to try to jump start it from your car, but don't do it with the car running, just from the car battery.

Welcome to the forums. I agree with Pain and 69. If your battery is good, it's probably the solenoid or the starter, more than likely the solenoid. Try jumping the two posts on the solenoid with an old screwdriver. If it starts, the solenoid is likely bad. If it don't start, it's probably the starter. Try using jumper cables to send power directly from the battery to the starter. Hook the ground on the starter casing or the engine and hook the hot to the hot post on the starter.
