How can I remove a starter from a 1990 300 fourttrax. I undid the electrical wire and the two bolts. Seems like not enough room to pull it out.

pull the starter gear cover off and take the gears out and it should slide right out,

you can take the 2 rear bolts out. take the 5 bolts out on the front gear cover in front of the starter then just tap on the starter case and pull it out. there doesn't look like there is room but there is.

The old fourtrax's starters arent worth a crap. We changed our starter in ours so many times, we just kick start it now. It not worth the hassle or money, just kick start it.

i agree. i have had two on mine in the last month brushes keep sticking
