I got a 88 trx 300 the starter stop working so i replace it with a new one now the starter solenoid gets so hot that you can’t Touch it when I leave the key on I have already try a different one it does the same thing
hows your wiring look? than seems like its shorted or crossed somewhere. can a solenoid get stuck and over heat? i never seen one do that. did you get an OEM replacement starter? china stuff is mostly junk, and ya gotta watch out at e-pray, when ya buy.
the other starter ya tried, was it the old one?
That solenoid (starter button) should only be energized for 10-15 seconds; the manual says you must then let it cool for minutes afterward. If it is warm all the time then it is shorted.
Did you use correct OEM parts? Did you install all the reduction gears properly?
Mainly I am interested in hearing your replies—you didn’t tell us what happened with your other post.
It sounds like the solenoid has failed. You can test it according to the service manual before you replace it. OEM Honda parts only though. No ebay or amazon china junk...
