Hi all,

I got my "Balto" back from it being fixed up and repaired by Shadetree, and he runs great!!! Thank you, Shadetree!
After riding it for a bit, it has squeaks and is driving me nuts! Is there anywhere I need to put lithium grease or squirt some WD-40 to remove this annoying noise? By the way, what a workhorse this honda is as I have loaded up the trailer with trees cut up for firewood, hauled trailer loads of wood chips for garden and a trailer load of crushed rock! I absolutely love my Balto! :big-grin

I would like to make him all purty and stuff, but for now I need to get rid of the squeaks, and then get him some new tires and purrrty up his faded plastics which are also severely scratched in places and get new flaps that are all cracked.

Squeaks Be Gone!!:grin

Where are the squeeks coming from? My first assumption would be front brakes?! Run the hose pipe on them, see if it stops the squeek. Drum brakes are a pain in the butt for squeking! Ended up replacing mine for discs in the end as I couldn't stop the annoying squeak/squeal!
Other than that I should imagine it would be dry wheel bearings, you could grease them if they aren't worn or replace them if they are.

I have all new hilifter brakes all around now and no more drum brakes. It stops great. I really am not sure other than it is either the springs or shocks that are squeaking.

Is the squeaking there when you use the brakes? What do you have for a bike?

As the others have said, you need to isolate the squeak(s). I had the same problem on my Rancher. When you're riding it's hard to tell where the noise if coming from.

I sat on the garage floor in front of the bike, reached up and pulled down on the rack, first in the center and then on each side. I did the same thing in the back. This is a good start to isolate things.
If the squeak is happening when you turn a certain direction, that's important to know to diagnose the problem. You don't need to spend money on new tires only to find you have bad wheel bearings.

Keep us posted.

if brakes, get all 4 wheels off ground and run it, hit brakes and listen for squeaks
if not brakes,
like stated above when parked, rock atv back and forth on each corner to listen for squeak, could be shock bushings are dry, could be steering stem, could be a bunch of things
have to try and find WHERE its coming from to ID and correct!

it is hard to pinpoint these things, takes patience and practice, persistence..
my 2000 had a vibration, it finally turned out, the box in the back was making noise, where you put extra tools, and such, maybe Bud's.
i think the old farmer, that had it, before me, didnt only, just check cow trails, an other than that, only drove it the church on Sundays.

as I said way back when I repaired it, the shock bushings were worn, as well as the upper and lower control arm bushings, guess you forgot ??...lol.

I would use WD40 with the straw on the can , start with a-arm pivot points , shock bushings , swing arm bearing ,upper steering bushing , if you find any of that stops the squeaks then I would use something like Garage Door Grease , it comes out liquid and solidifies to grease and spray that into the cracks ------- then a grease gun with a hypodermic needle end and grease the ball joints and tie rod ends ------ I would lean towards the ball joints being the culprit
