Has anyone swapped a sprocket hub? My son got rear ended by a dirt bike. It bent the sprocket and the hub. I am going to try and straighten the hub. (Not bent too bad) If it feels weak or breaks I will replace. I have read that the hub is pressed on, and I have also read that the hub is not pressed on. What I am hoping (optimistically) is that I can tap the hub off to the left instead of having to take the entire axle apart. Thanks!

No chance you will tap it off loose without removing the axle. Sorry to be the bad news guy here. It will need to be out and preferrably in a shop press. I have done one without and it took a sledge hammer and many over the head swings. Both of my arms went numb by the time it moved enough to remove the clip. Then you have to turn it around and slam it 100,000 more times the other way. A press makes this task 100% more enjoyable. My .02

Btw. After reading your post it has to go to the right first. From the point of view of sitting on the quad. It will move to the right about a half inch or so and uncover a clip that is a ring with one opening. It will pry off to the left and then you can press the hub off to the left.

While I have you here. lol The airbox was busted also. Any recommendations for an aftermarket airbox? I have read that people have had to re-jet their carbs after adding an aftermarket box? He will be asking for a different pipe for Christmas. I have also read that people have had to re-jet after buying a new pipe. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Cfm makes a nice all aluminum airbox. You can get them on ebay. Be prepared as they are expensive. You can get one that use the stock intake snorkle and still have a lid. Or you can go for the no lid option. No lid will require a bigger main jet at the minimum. If you doing a pipe filter and remove the airbox lid you will be around a 170-175 main jet and i would suggest a 42 pilot jet aswell. The 400 should have come with a 42 from the get go. It will start alot easier with alot less choke and just run alot smoother over all. The only reason they come with a 38 is to meet government emissions regulation crap.
