So I need to split my cases to fix a hairline crack due to impact, I plan on splitting and possibly jb welding from inside and out. I do understand how important prep is. I would not just jb the outside and feel comfortable. My final decision will be made after I get a look from the inside. My question can I remove the back without completely stripping the front as well. Here is a picture of where I am at and am wondering if I remove bolts should the case slide off at this stage or do I need to remove anything else.

Second question I have is it normal for this bearing to be loose in the collar, clutch lifter #8

I did remove the one bolt in the top that definally went thru to the other half.

I might mig weld it but have had good luck using jb if properly cleaned prep and used both sides. I have not ruled out a used case yet either. But I do need to get these split for inspection. I am nervous of the force I am using......with caution of course. I will look thru the manual but it has you strip every nut and bolt and most times it's not needed, just more items to get misplaced, I tend to screw as many bolts back in to assist with what goes where

yes, that bearing goes in and out of the collar, they are not a tight/press fit .

A new one was $4 had to order it as I've never seen a bearing fit that loose but if not needed on the shelf it goes.

So ordered used case, doing clutch discs and springs as there nearly steel on steel lol. Top end looks good for a bike with 16 000 Klm's or 10k miles on it, stretched for cash so it will go back together as is for now, timing chain was tight. Expected worse but don't know history on bike I have had it for 3 years.
