Hi all- First off, let me say thanks for all the helps I've read so far in the forums and stickies. For my problem, they've given me many things to look at. Unfortunately for me and my 86 200sx, I seem to be stuck. My father-in-law basically gave me this atv to see if i could fix and if so, he'd let my family have it. He said it was running when he parked it and my wife is thinking it has been sitting for about 6 years. Things I've done: New battery, spark plug, new carb (after cleaning the old one without resolution), and cleaned out the tank. Right now i do get spark holding the plug to the head and I can get it to fireball with the carb off and trying to start it. However, when i put the carb back on, it tries to hit and i do get a few promising turns but the thing just never starts. I figured if there was a problem with the carb I would bypass it with replacing with a new one. I am sure new gas is getting past the petcock and into to the carb, as well as through the jets. When I took it off the bowl was full of good gas. Of note, I poured a cap of gas into the spark plug hole, it still wouldn't start even for that cap full of gas. It will fireball shooting starting fluid into the intake. So I'm stuck. Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Welcome to the forums. You said it had a spark, but is it a good, bright blue spark? If it's orange looking, then it's too weak. If your spark is good and you have good compression and the cam timing is correct, then it should have started for a second or two when you put gas down the spark plug hole. If it's been sitting for 6 years, you may have a valve stuck open. I would check the compression and the cam timing.

^Thanks! I would say no its a faint blue spark and i do see orange. I suppose I may have fouled up the new spark plug or maybe a coil problem? Hopefully I can find a sticky or search the threads for instructions on the rest of the suggestions you gave. Just trying to save a bit on the shop fee! :) Thanks again
