Source for oil pump chain

Hey all. I'm changing the cam chain and have the right crank case cover off. I noticed that there is a fair amount of slack in the oil pump chain. In looking over other posts, it seems to be the consensus to put a new chain on the the oil pump as long as I have it apart. However, my roadblock seems to be an apparent unavailability of the stock Honda chain. The number is 15141-hb3-000. Is there a cross reference number for a different vendor?

Oh, sorry, it's off of a 1994 TRX200 D type 2.

having a hard time finding one for ya !..lol, they seem to be very rare, keep an eye on ebay, as this will be your best bet for a NOS to pop up. everywhere I've looked, seems they are discontinued here in the states.

I see that the aforementioned oil pump chain is rarer than hens teeth. I have been poking around and discovered that the chain is a 44 link:

Contact D.I.D direct, I know at one time here in the UK they would make a chain to suit your needs. Not sure how much that costs or wether that service is still available but it's worth a shot.

won't work. even though the links are the same for count ?, the links themselves are different. those links look like, and are the same as a timing chain. where the oil pump chain has links like sprocket links for sprocket chains...make sense ?. ( I could be wrong though !..lol ).

just a thought ?, if the chain is stretched a lot ?, I wonder if you can find a master link or make one ?, grind out one link or two ?, which ever makes it fit better ?, put a master link back in the old chain, and run it ?.

I was wondering if the master link was a possibility as well? Is there a specification on the amount of play in this chain?

Might need to source a chain by size, it appears 44 is the link count.

Been years since I had to source chains this way

I have two 200sx parts motors right now. They use the same chain. If you want to measure the length of yours I can do the same and see if either of mine are shorter

I just measured one of mine. It was around 138.2 mm. It's hard to get a perfect measurement since the chain links like to move but it should be close. It doesn't look like the service manual gives a length spec for it like they do with the cam chain.

I have yet to take the clutch assembly apart to get to the chains. Gotta get a 24 mm socket...

I didn't have a 24mm socket either and was too impatient to go to the store. I ended up using either a 15/16" or 1" deep socket, I don't remember. Turn right to loosen

Roller chain wear should really be no more than1.5 / 2%. lay chain on a flat surface and push all the links together, IE, make chain as short as possible. Measure overall length of chain. Then stretch chain open, IE, make it as big as possible. measure it again. If the difference is more than 2% of total length then chain is scrap technically.
