i doubt it..a 2wd and that much hp..nahh..not enough to handle the load..the plows alone are not light..you really need a heavier atv with 4wd in order to do this kinda work.

250 DOES plow snow

YES a 250 will plow snow. I moved to Pa from Fl in 2002 and bought a plow for my 1985 TRX 250 2 wheel drive. I have used it every year since then to open my driveway and clear a path out to our animals. It WILL PUSH SNOW My driveway is 75 Ft. long the building I keep the ATV in is at the back end of it. I have opened the door set the blade to a angle and pushed snow 11" deep all the way for 75 ft. with out stopping or losing power. Last year we had 18" of snow and blowing winds I had no problem plowing out to animals but the driveway had 4 1/2' drifts. It took some playing for the two wheel drive to get it open but I was able to do it. I did not run out of power in the drifts but did have trouble spinning even with chains and three 70 lb. tube bags of sand on the back carrier . Other then the drifts I have never found and reason for a four wheel drive although I understand you would have less problems with traction in really deep drifts.

I plowed snow with a little 2wd Suzuki lt125 last winter. It did the job, but I had to keep the momentum up to get through the thicker stuff.

It's better with my 4wd Honda this year. I don't feel like I'm putting any real strain on the machine. I can go nice and slow, no ramming into the drifts like before.

It's definitely nicer with 4wd, but a 2wd 250 with some weight can do quite a bit more than you'd think.

I was happy to see these posts from folks who have had success pushing snow with 2WD Recon 250s! I have a 2001 TRX250 Fourtrax Recon and am considering installing a snowplow on it. Can any of you tell me if you installed a winch to lift the blade or if you lift the blade manually? Also is there is specific winch that is recommended and a mounting kit available? I see Harbor Freight is offering a 2500 lb. ATV/Utility Electric Winch with Wireless Remote Control for $49.99 with coupon. I have not bought any tools from Harbor Freight before - the price seems a little too good to represent quality. I want to do this job correctly. Thanks for any responses.

yes a it can plow snow
but you an also dig a 100 ft hole by hand too, but having better equipment to do so, makes it easier
PLUS< your putting a LOT more wear and tear on your atv
HOW much snow you get, is a HUGE factor to think about
if you obnly get snow once in a while, , it may work fine for you
snow plow have some universial mounts for many plow makers, but odds are you won't find an excat mount for your model, as , snow plow makers don't recommend that model for a plow!

like I said, how much snow you get will be huge here
if you get a lot of snow and often
your wasting a LOT more times trying to get the job done, say it takes you an hr, but a 4x4 atv would take 15 minutes
add that up thru the winter, and , well, saving s come to????
it will sure beat shoveling LOL
but in deep snow, maybe NOT!

SW: Welcome to the forum. Yes, your Recon can plow snow, and I believe that equipment is available for it. But, as others' say above, it will be quite a task for your Recon. For sure, you would not want to put any larger than a 48" plow blade on it. Likewise, you would want to plow before the snow gets deep (plow up to about 4 inches). Otherwise, you could run into difficulty.
For equipment, take a look at Cycle Country By Kolpin - ATV and UTV snow plows and snow accessories - Cycle Country Access Corp
If you decide to purchase their equipment, the best prices can be found on Amazon.com
