When running vent lines do they have to be "dead air" or can I tap them into the pvc line with a nipple in this photo? Will it create suction on vent lines? Is that something I can do or not?

I believe I would keep them separate. If you hook them together, it might have an aspirating effect and create a vacuum in the vent lines, like you mentioned. I don't have any real experience with that, but that would be my guess.
