my 86 250 fourtrax smokes more than a 250r with bad rings.....i just would like pointed in the proper direction to diagnose and fix, also would like to know if there is anywhere i can purchase a engine rebuild kit with everything in it so i dont have to piece one together.

If it's smoking, it has to be the rings or valve stem seals. Since it's an '86, I would just do a complete overhaul and replace both. I would probably go the route in the link below. They bore and hone the cylinder and you get the oversized piston and rings to match, all the gaskets, and everything you need to complete a top end rebuild, including the valve stem seals. They do good work and they even bead blast the outside of the cylinder.

I would think about a crank too...If you have been riding it like that for any amount of time, it's probobly crank bearing time too...The older ones are a little more forgiving but when my ranchers start smoking, they getting a crank too.
