Should the slow jet be drilled through or is it just the side holes that are drilled through. It looks like my slow jet is solid and I cannot clear it.

Yes, the slow jet is drilled through. A genuine Shindy carb kit will have a new, correct jet. China kits will not be correct... You can find a copy of the service manual here if you haven't got one yet.

You might try holding the jet with needle nose pliers and heat it with a propane torch then blow out with a quick blast of air !

Sometimes it might take a bit of heat then a very fine wire after it is warmed the heat softens the plug, many times You can see it push out of the jet !

It works for Me, have not bought a new jet because of a plug in many years !
