I've been reading some of the exhaust threads on here and I have to ask a stupid question. What exactly does a slip on consist of and how do you put it on? Looking at my stock 300 exhaust it looks to be all one piece so with a slip on do you have to cut off your old one and weld the new one on?

The head pipe and the silencer are connected to each other usually right under the rear fender about 5-6" from the silencer. Take all your plastics off and you should see where they meet. So when you by a slip-on you get the silencer and about 5-6"(usually) of pipe. You should not have to cut anything. My pipe took about 10 minutes to put on.

well good to know, I hate to admit I was also looking at the Cobra Exhaust because of the price and one of the few brands I could get a whole kit in. But if a slip on is that easy then I've changed my mind.

No, the Fourtrax 300 utility has a one piece pipe. Muffler and pipe doesn't come apart on those. I don't know why they made them that way.

Yeah, I know. They're a pain to change, too. You have to wiggle and twist them around to clear the frame, fenders, and engine. It's like working a puzzle to get them off.
