It has to be specific. It bolts in two place to the subframe and those mounts have to line up. I am partial to hmf myself. But lexx is a cheap option to make the quad make more noise. But keep in mind. Just because its loud dosnt mean it makes good power. The hmf is a happy medium. Deep throaty sound. And pretty good power gains. My.02

I like my FMF Powercore 4 with the FMF Powerbomb header, but it's definitely on the loud side.

I'm going to re-pack the muffler and see if it quiets it down a little.

I have a Lexx slip on that I will be trying out soon. I'll let you know how it sounds
Remember to pack that canister or at least check it. When packed properly it will give more bottom end power. Dont over pack, it turns the exhaust into a straight pipe! no low end.

I love my white bros exhaust. I have never had a problem with it and it has a great sound. I wish they didn't get discontinued. I also love my HMF. I've never had a problem with it either.

Dont get me wrong, I liked my White Bros. and I liked my FMF, they just didnt make the power the LRD does with my combination.

I love the way those LRD's look. How often had you had to repack that exhaust? The only reason I ask is, if this lexx pipe is a POS I may look into a LRD pipe.

To be honest, im not sure what length of time or amount of riding requires me to repack. I can feel a little bottom end loss and who ever is riding behind me lets me know it getting loud. I hate loud ass tin canny sounding machines.

Agh makes sense. I have had my 1999 300ex (running the white bros exhaust) for 5 years, and I have never had to pack the exhaust until this winter. I also do hate when the exhaust gets so loud and very annoying.

There is no set amount of time. Really depends how you ride. Off the rev limiter racing? Every year. Regular trail use? 3-5 or more. I do mine every winter. I guess you can tell which one of these i fit into lol

Haha I'm in the same boat. I usually do every 2 years with my hmf.

I'll be repacking my FMF in the spring when it's too warm to ride the lake, and too cold to ride the trails haha.

Do you have studs in your tires? How do you ride on the lake and get traction?
Part of the fun of riding the lake is having limited traction, and being able to snap it sideways at just about any speed.

Just gotta watch you don't slam into a snow drift sideways haha!

Last year I bought some winter tires that worked pretty good, but they wore down really fast from riding and sliding on pavement, my own fault lol.

This year I just have some worn holeshots on, but haven't had any real issues getting around.

If there is too much snow, or the snow is too heavy, it's pointless to go out, too frustrating.

But if the snow is light and fluffy, or there isn't that much, it's no issue.

The wind takes most of the snow off the lake so that helps.

Plus we've had the odd warm day that melts the snow, then it will drop, and everything re-freezes.

Those are the best days because all the snow banks are frozen and make for some good jumps, haha.

Honestly it's the main reason I bought a quad!

I grew up living on the river, and I used to see sleds and quads rip by all the time, and I would be GREEEEEEEN with jealousy!

Seeing banshee's ripping sideways by my dock just filled my head with fantasies haha.

My dad grew up in Quebec, and always said "Toronto doesn't get enough snow to get a snowmobile", so we never had one growing up.

I never really had an interest in my teen years because none of my friends had any sleds or ATV's, so it just wasn't a priority.

Then years later I met my buddy who's friend had a 400EX that we would rip around on.

That was all the motivation I needed to fulfill a childhood dream haha

i may be a little biased since it happens to be the system that i have on my 400ex, but if you want an exhaust with a unique sound, than the white bros e-series exhaust is the way to go. it is definetly one of the best performance exhausts you can get, its design doesnt require a restrictive mesh spark arrestors (are certified to have a legal spark arrestors) and are very tunable by simply taking off or adding disks to the back of the muffler. they are a little bit on the spendy side but they are very much worth the money.

Yeah they were a very good system. Sadly they are out of business and only can be found used anymore. Have seen quite a few and somehow they do still make good power. They kinda stole the design from super trapp though lol
