Hi all,

Couple of questions if I may!

I have a 89 300 trx, the left hand side of the axel is slightly bent, I guess it took a hit sometime, is the axel to half axels or is it one straight through, has anyone straightened and axel before? its not much but at speed you can feel it and I suppose it wont do the bearing much good in time.

Cheers.

Ever try to bend out a coat hanger perfectly straight? The axle is a one piece, with splines where the hubs attach. Depending on how bad it is, it might not be worse than some machines I've seen with warped rims, but ultimately it will increase bearing wear.

I had a friend years ago who bent an axel on a 400 EX, he straightened it the best he could, but it wasnt 100%.

Yep, it's one straight axle, I don't know if you could ever get it perfectly straight again or not. A new axle for the '89 Fourtrax 300 is around $400 at my local dealer. An axle for a ,93-'00 is only around $170. I believe the only difference in the axles between those years are the length of the hub splines on each end of the axle. I think you can use the newer axle, but you would also have to buy the newer hubs to go on the axle.

BTW, there's one of the newer axles('93-'00) on Ebay now for $119.95, but remember if you buy it, you will have to have the newer hubs to go with it.
