if it's 6 ply , no slime will not repair a sidewall tear, however you can take it to your local tire shop and have them boot the inside and install a heavyduty tube that should hold you for awhile.

that happened to my buddy on his 250ex...him and my other buddy (400ex) hit each other and the 250ex front tire got a a sidewall tear..what made it worse is we were a good 35 mins. away from camp...he had to side saddle it the whole way back to try to keep weight off that side...he ended up bending his steering stem and got 2 new front tires

Take it to a good tire shop and have them put a patch on the inside of it. There is a process that they do for larger tires (I'm talking 4x4 tires(super swampers for i.e)) that is called valconize (I think I may have misspelled it). It is like basically having a new tire. The patch will work just fine for you though.

Have never had any luck with patches on the inside of ATV tires i use to to big truck tires a process called a section repair have fixed 2" to 7" long splits in side walls but you have to grind out to the steel belts install some rubber called cushion gum put i a heated press for a few hours then buff the out side down and install a huge special patch inside that reinforces the side wall for drive tires only no steer tires, hell i can even recap a tire from preping the casing to building the tire, so my advice is to buy a new tire.

YOur one of the fortunate ones that a plug held in the sidewall.

Thats funny i just got a hole in my side wall today . I put a plug in and some air and I had fun the rest of the day and I ride rough rocky trails. I will proble later this week put a patch inside and get rid of the plug.

I certainly wouldn't want to have to replace a tire that wasn't worn out, but I also wouldn't want to be 5 miles from home and have a sidewall patch blow. Weight the cost of the tube against the cost of a new tire and how much tread remains on the damaged tire.

If the tire is worn out, just replace it. If it's brand new, get a tube, and patch the sidewall. But, do both. ATV tires only carry 5lbs of air, give or take, so they are going to flex a lot. Don't trust a sidewall patch, unless you never leave your driveway.

I ran over a piece of glass in the lake bottom while going to my Crappie fishin on a set of 2week old Mud lites made me sick wasn't going to chance it on a patch and tube so bought an $86 new tire, but i still had to get back to the truck about 8 miles through lake bottoms and woods, and was bymyself, i had to be towed 21 miles one time when i found no bottom in a creek all you could see was my head filled the moter full of water and locked up tight in surance paid for a new Grizzly. needless to say bay a tire you will be glad you did!!
