So I found a 1995 Honda ATV 300 4x4 on Craigslist for $150. Talked to owner and he says hasn't run in 2yrs. About 4 years ago he used to start it by kick start since the starter quit about then so kicked it for 2 years till it quit starting.

Looks like all or most of the plastic is there, some cracks for sure. Has all 4 tires/wheels, two are flat.

Seat is shot so would have to rebuild or replace if possible. I am sure ALL fluids need flushing, including brake lines. Not sure if it rolls even.

You guys think it's worth the bother? I had a neighbor, some years back, give me a similar bike, a 98 250 2WD, that was slightly better off, and it is still in our stable, running very well, thanks to much help from this forum.

What do ya think? Should I do it? Prob is, it's a 45 min drive just to look.

Its been a while... welcome back! That sounds cheap... If the bike looks complete and isn't blown up and cobbled beyond recognition I'd probably be quite interested in it at that price. But keep in mind I like 300s and almost every other older air cooled Honda. Its your call...

Thanks, yea it has been a pretty long time. Both quads, the aforementioned 250 and the '86 TRX350 are running good. Still need to adjust valves on the 350, just too lazy to hit it.

I like em too. Probably because me and the bikes are simple :).

I might regret it but I might pass on this one. Partly because we are headed out Sunday for a 3 week (or more) RV trip and too many other things to do to get ready. Bad timing, but it is probably about as good a deal as I will find. I know these things are pretty hard to kill, but I do think the seller has tried his best to do so. LOL

So if anyone lives near the Nipomo CA area (where the quad is) have a look at the San Luis Obispo listing on Craigslist. No pics on there (he couldn't figure out how) but he will text them to you. (I figured out how to put them here)

Yea I guess I should have titled it look what I am passing on. Bad timing for me. Maybe it will be there when I get back? Not!
Somebody will prob sink $100 into it and sell it for $1100.

I know I should but too much to do. Just finished washing the roof of the 5th wheel and will do the rest when it cools off this evening.

Hopefully somebody that needs one but can't afford a ready to ride one will get it.

You need to move fast on it or someone like us (Honda guys who knows the "desired" models) will see it and like Marlinman said, toss $100 into it and make or keep it to play around on.... If I lived closer it would now be in my garage....

If it is close, I can go get it and have it stashed in the woods and the wife wouldn't know.

If it is far, have to take the wife and explain that it is a great deal on an ATV and then justify purchasing said ATV, etc, etc.

Scenario 1 is preferred. :)

Or option 3.
Tell wife you're just popping to the store, give it ten minutes and ring her saying you broke down and will stay until you've fixed it, you may be a while as you don't quite know what's wrong with it yet.:grin

So he told you it was a 97 looks , judging by the fender/tank color , dash color , rear rack I'd say it is a 1st gen 300 88-92 , the exhaust pipe makes me think 88 ----- I think it is worth $150 for parts if it doesn't work out

Can you PM the ad to me ? I'm not going to snatch it..haha! ...... I'd just like to see the ad, cause modles from 95-2000 had the updated (straight) exhaust ...... With Donaldson exhaust, and a brass purge plug, instead on the old school double bolt on pirge plate.
