Welcome to the forums! on the clutch lever loosen the round wheel and then adj the cable outward until you have almost no freeplay in the clutch lever then tighten the round wheel, if you don't have enough adjustment there follow the cable to the mount on the motor loosen the nuts on the cable bracket to take some play out and then tighten, but it sounds like you may have shift fork problems or a damaged shift drum.

If this is a 250 Recon and you're talking about the clutch free play adjustment on the front of the engine, you can try adjusting it, it might help and it might not.

To adjust. Loosen the locknut, turn the adjusting screw slowly counterclockwise until you feel resistance. Now, turn the adjusting screw clockwise 1/4 turn. Finally, hold the adjusting screw while you tighten down the locknut.

This is what you need to know to adjust it then.
