hey guys new to the forums here, i got a rancher here that its not wanting to shift, i tested the shifter with 12 volts spins like no tomorrow connect it back and will not shift with the four wheeler its self if i leave it hooked up and shift it manually it throws a code checking the shifter on battery will not. it will shift from N to 5 on battery and manually before this all happened i have rebuilt the motor but i have never ever ran into this issue. Im about yay close to buying a new wire harness tired of dealing with this becuase the way its looking its a wiring issue.

welcome to the forums. you should get the service manual, look through the trouble shooting section, start testing the angle sensor and what your code is that is flashing on your display.

If it's blinking a code it won't shift can you manually shift it while rocking it back and forth, manual shift it to neutral and shut key off sometimes will reset issue my bike would throw a code in second if I rode it along time in second, reset and it was fine eventually I had to change the position sensor but there are many causes to the electric shift issue, before buying an angle sensor you can always service some parts like removing shift cover and cleaning out any dirt check the needle bearings recoat with a lithium based grease when reassembling, pulling apart and cleaning the shift motor might also help. I done this on my bike in under an hour. As shade has already said the manual will guide you thru these steps.

Thanks guys, I was doing some more work on it thismorning and I have got it to shift for like 5 mins, lol but i went around a tree in the middle of my yard and it wouldnt shift anymore, thats odd rechecked everything. So i thought maybe if i do it again it would maybe work again. nope ut i hit a rock and it would let me shift stopped for a second to see if there was anymore loose connections and it wouldnt shift once i stopped now i cant get it to shift for the world. New wiring harness in the future? Also I can manually shift it and i have to turn the key off to reset it but it only sends a code if i unplug the shifter or the shift angle sensor

Brush might be sticking in the shift motor but again I would go thru all the steps I outlined, wiring harness is the last thing I would look at. Eliminate the most common issues before looking for the one in a thousand is the only advise I can give
