just put a sparks exhaust on my 2004 trx 450 and they convinced me to run without and airbox lid....i never have before, i do all woods riding and race GNCC or other hare scrambles i know obviously deep water would be real bad but other than that is it really a big deal? running 2 hour races im big on reliability over mods but if im not risking to much i wouldnt mind the extra response....any opinions would be appreciated

You can get a K&N top to replace you stock top its a hi flow and keep most or the water out and all the mud and dirt they are a little pricy about a $100 and you will have to re jet

Cut, modify and drill your lid to allow more air but still offer protection.
