Hi guys i have an 05 500 rubicon canadian edition and it all of a sudden developed a tap in the center of the engine.Worked great before this.Just all of a sudden took to knocking.Was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and if so what did it end up being?????Any help would be great thanks..........

Hi and welcome,as for the knock if it is from the( center of the engine ) it could be several things. my nephew had a similar knock in his 500 and it was a bad rod bearing. we isolated the noise with a short garden hose cut to about 2 ft. and put one end to my ear and the other where you think you here the knock then just move it around to you here it best. but to say just what it is would be hard. mabey someone else on here knows.

Could be that your valves need adjusted.

i checked the valve clearance and its all fine and i even tried the garden hose thing prier to posting and it sounds to me that it is near the timing chain i guess the only real was to find out is the start taking it apart

Yep could be that your cam chain is slapping.

Yep, I'd bet that's the problem, but I could be wrong. Wouldn't be the first time I was wrong.
