Welcome to the forums. What rods are you talking about, the pushrods that open the valves??ok so i took the top off the engine on my 08 foreman 500 cause it was making a kncking noise. i checked the rods to see if they were bent or damaged and now one of them will not go back in. how do i get it to go back down?
The Foreman don't have an overhead cam. The cam is in the bottom of the engine.Perhaps he dropped the cam chain and it's bound up in the bottom of the engine??
No, you have to remove the clutch cover and both clutches and the cam comes out the side. The only thing that has to come off to remove the jug is the valve cover, rocker arm assembly, and the pushrods.Yeah I see that now but if he removed the Jug wouldn't the cam have to come out?
It's simple to just change the piston and rings, but it's a PITA to pull the cam because it's hard to get to. When they changed to the pushrod engines, that's also when they changed to the longitudinally mounted engine. It's hard to pull the side covers off of the longitudinally monunted engines because they're in the front and back and there isn't much room. It's almost easier to just pull the engine sometimes.Gotcha! Darn utility quads...lol never simple. well actually it's more simple just have to readjust the valves no cam to screw with. lol
