I,m new to the forum and to working on atv's,will bad rings cause a fourwheeler to not idle good?

yes and no..depends if you have compression..and the motor runs period..does your motor run ??..does it smoke real bad ?..if it runs..without dieing..then..no..your ring's aren't the prob..if it smokes real bad..you probally need new rings..but..to idle good..no...your rings aren't your prob..thats a carb issue

rilly quick of topic question ok my dad has a 500 the spring pop out of the carb that pushes the needle down should it run if mising that

should it ?..it can..will it run right ?..no !..that springs keeps the main jet seated in the bottom of the carb when your not giving it gas..in other words..if not fixed..it will either flood the engine..or wont idle right period.

umm i hate to break ur harts it ran it idle fine it took of stronger then it ever has but ran lean thats all

you asked if it would run without the spring..and i answered it will run..it just won't run right ..without that spring..there is nothing to keep the carb piston pressed down all the way on the carb seat.which..sooner or later will cause someone a problem when out ridding it..i'm sure it will run...but to run right..no..it won't.
