Alright, so I've got a Fourtrax 300 4x4 and decided to change the brakes, only to find the wheel cylinders were completely seized. I decided to do a disc brake conversion kit (SuperATV). Everything went on fine and I bled the brakes and to my surprise, the wheels didn't fit on. I saw on the instructions that the rims have to be 12" or larger and I measured and they were 12". They are hitting the brake caliper. Does anyone know of a way to make it clear the caliper without buying new rims and wheels? I even looked on craigslist for wheels and there were none. Any help would be appreciated.

Actually pretty sure it says 10 or 11 but when I measured with a tape measure it was 12
lol..the rims are 11 inch..not 12 !..you need 12 inch rims in order to clear the brake calipers !.

Oh well. I'll just order some wheel spacers as I can't afford new wheels and rims lol
Correct me if I'm wrong. But aren't wheels and rims pretty much the same thing? Lol

So I knew what you ment, but how much are you spending on the wheel spacers? I know spending more money sucks, but spacers will change your handling, and my cause stress on other components. I'd be checking more online for a used set of 12" wheels and tires. People are always selling when they go bigger, so you may get lucky and find a set cheap.

Might be similar, but I have recently bought and installed a conversion for my ‘06 350FE Rancher. It came with a little notice slip explaining that the tops of the calibers might have to be “shaved” down in order to gain clearance for some 12” rims.

Yep. thats what I had to do. Even with the spacers, i sanded down the part of the caliper that sticks out and rubs on the rim, and now it works fine. I've bled the brakes twice, but they arent giving good performance. Not sure why.

Yeah, I noticed that too, I ended up having to replace my master cylinder ($20 Amazon Special) due to a busted diagram. After bleeding with the new master I was getting slightly better braking but not perfect. IT might of needed some break-in because after taking it a couple laps around the property and re-flushing, they firmed up pretty nice

9 out of 10 times, if your not getting full brake lever pressure on front brakes, either by disk or drum ?, then you either have air still trapped in the lines ?, or your master cylinder is bad or clogged ?.

I would pinch the hose with hose pinchers or vise grip with cardboard or rubber to not damage the hose , right where it comes out the master cylinder and pump against the blockage , the lever should get hard immediately , if not , then that new $20 (LOL) master cylinder is chinese junk
