I have a 2000 trx 300 that revs high when I stop and put into neutral. It will idle fine in gear but as soon as I put into neutral it will automatically rev high. It also revs high and never returns to idle when I give it throttle in neutral.

Check for a rip in the boot between the carb and cylinder.
