i finally got around to bad eBay shifter motor replacement. i couldnt remember how i got the old one out the first time. finally, i remembered to take the motor mount bolts out, the pan underneath, and jack up the motor about 1/8 to1/4. it wont clear the frame otherwise.
i get the china one out... i find some rust. maybe the gasket didnt seal. also one bearing was missing the face and was missing about 5 out of 11 steal balls. what was left, you could feel the rust crunch, or lock, from a bad bearing. i dont want to say it was my fault, so it goes.
i was thinking to use orange permatex temporary till i get that new gasket from honda Toledo, just in case i cant get it by the 4th weekend, i think its coming up soon, i want to ride for a few days till i fix it right. it may be dry, and i kinda trust ultra copper. anybody see any problems with that? Thanks //Ed

OK, thanks, i have another question. there are bearings on the block side, that match the control motor gear housing, are they hard to remove? is there a mini bearing puller? i can get by for a weekend, i think its about time to replace those also. //Ed

If you have some Permatex Ultra Grey gasket maker use that... it is the same anaerobic sealer as the more expensive Hondabond 4 & Yamabond 4.
the round gasket was where i had the problem at most likely. i should have replaced it, and made sure it was in the groove, aint no such thing sometimes as a shortcut, especially when doing good work. //Ed

I don't know what it takes to get that bearing out... if you can get ahold of it with something you have on hand and yank it out of there, fine... to buy one of those inner race style pullers will set you back quite a few $$$. I don't own any myself, cause they cost so much for good ones!

As long as you have all of the gaskets back in it, whether new or used, you should be OK. Have fun on your upcoming ride!
