Hello, New to the forum. I'm rebuilding 1985 Honda TRX250 , I have removed the rear axle, axle tubes, brakes, and Etc. I purchase the Honda service manaul for the bike, but I can't figure out how to remove the Brake cables from the rear of the brake panel. I see the wingnut, and have lossen it, but how to you get the cables out of the slot that holds it in place.

I referring to the place on the back of the brake panel not on the arm.

Thanks for any help.

After you take the wing nuts off, the cable housing should just pull out of the back of the piece that holds the cable. They might just be stuck from being there for a long time. Try spraying some WD-40 or PB Blaster or something on them.

If WD is not up to the task you might try Kroil. It's a little expensive but it's a creeping oil that will dissolve and penetrate the corrosion on most things.
If you hunt, there is a mix of Kroil and ? that will clean the crud out of the bore of a rifle pretty well...The mixture is on one of the firearms web sites.
Another great lube is Klenzoil out of Ohio. It does not have silicone in it so will not gum up in water and really works great on chains for MC's and bicycles.
