The front brakes on my son's 2007 recon are not working. I adjusted pads till you get a little response but the lever still bottoms out. I noticed the pads were not wearing evenly. They end closest to adjustment is wearing out more than hydraulic side. I took apart. Cleaned and replaced shoes but I am still having same problem. I got them to work for a little while, after changing pads but now they are doing the same thing. I am thinking I may need to bleed the system. Not quite sure how to do this. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

Bleeding is easy have someone sit on the bike make sure you can turn the bleeder screw before you start. lets begin. with your wrench on the bleeder loosen it up, DO NOT touch the lever just yet. now that you got it loose have the person slowly pull the lever in until it bottoms out, once they bottom out tell them to hold it, tighten up the bleeder and then they can slowly release it. check your fluid top it off if needed , DO NOT LET IT RUN LOW OR OUT!!! repeat the steps one more time for a total of 2 times per side. when your done jack up the front and pop out the little rubber plug in the back of the drum assembly if you shine a light inside you will see a knurled wheel get yourself a flat screwdriver, and depending on what side of the bike your on will determine the direction of travel on that little wheel, using the screwdriver give it a few turns you should hear a clicking sound , if not go the other way. While turning the adjuster grab your wheel and turn it 4X4 be in neutral, turn the adjuster so that you start to feel a little resistance on the tire/wheel stop there now do the same for the other side. after your all doen clean up your mess, the wife will love you for it. LOL seriously though check your lever travel and firmness you should now have a good brake. I hope this helps If not I just told you how to adjust the rear brakes on your car....LOL

Good job! keep up the good work!!...lol

No but all kidding aside good write up!

You should make a sticky in this part of the fourm for bleeding the brakes. So ppl have a thread to search for and such. Make the forum a little more organized. You won’t have 09798576 ppl making same threads asking how to do this ya know??
