Just picked up a used recon. 2005. In good shape ES model. It was having a hard time shifting. So I did a clutch adjustment and all good. My question is I backed out that adjustment screw a solid 4-5 turns. Felt resistance and 1/4 turn in. Shifts great no slip etc. so now the screw is about 2 threads exposed when the lock nut is set. Is this a sign of a worn out clutch or just way too tight and now it’s back in spec? Does the screw max out or move with the wear. Getting ready to run around Moab for a few Kong’s days want to make sure I’m ok

counter-clockwise, lightly seats, then back clockwise 1/4 turn.

What is this adjusting? Free play? Is it any indication of wear on the disks is my real question. Or just correct play?
this adjust the free-play on your change clutch..or tech..the friction disk in the change clutch :).

Thanks
Is there any preventative checks I can do on the clutch without opening it up before some long desert days?
Like I said shifts good now. Only slips on steep hill starts. But does lock and go quick (centrifugal).
