you need to use a fine point punch to tap the circlip around in the little hole until you find the end of the circlip. from there with a small pair of pliers, pull the circlip all the way out.
after that its as simple as tapping the pinion bearing out from the rear hole in the side cover bearing race area with a punch.
this whole process can make you very angry, but persistence pays off and don't get frustrated. once you've done it a few times it only takes a few minutes to get them out.
