I need some help!
my 2004 Rubicon started leaking oil on the rear left side (picture attached). I took the left sleeve of the axle off and noticed that the seal on differential is the one leaking. (Picture #2)
Is it possible to replace that seal without taking the whole diff out? I’ve tried prying it real careful but it’s pretty stuck…

They are really in there for sure. You could try the method of drilling a couple screws into the seal and pulling it out by the screws but I’d be careful. It’s easy to get to go the beating cage like that. Or may take a flat screwdriver and knock the seal down a little toward the axle and get access to pull it on out. If you end up pulling the diff, it’s. God time to clean it up, replace all the seals and bearings while your at it. It’s not too bad or I’ve had ppl pull the diff and bring it into our Honda dealership and we do the labor. Not as much labor if you’ve done the pulling of the diff.
