Hey guys,

I'm new here and the site looks helpful. I have tried a search but didn't find quite what I was looking for.

My back brakes seem to be locked up. I was told to pull off the rear Drum cover and then tap out the splined rod and it would most likely just have some grit in it and that is why he thinks they are locked up

I removed the tire, the lugs and the plate that they are attached too. Next I removed the several bolts that attach the drum cover and this is where I am having trouble.

The black "metal" cover seems to be stuck on. I tried to get a screw driver in between the plate and the piece it is attached to. I got it in but it seems too hard to pry.

Before I break this I would like to see if I need to do more to make this cover more loose and come off. My friend thinks that the brakes may be engaged against the cover and that may be what is tight.

I am not sure if I have explained this well enough. Basically I want to get into where the brake shoes are but the round black metal cover won't come off and I would love some advice on how to take it off.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Take a look on www.bikebandit.com they will have a schematic for your quad specific. in the mean time have you backed off the springs on the brake rods? and is there a clip holding the cover inplace at the shaft? I don't know without looking at a digram or pic.
if Saber gets online he will be your guy. Welcome to the forums too keep us posted.

I haven't tried to loosen the springs. I guess that would be something that I should have tried. I will do that when I get home tonight. I don't think that there is any form of clip in front of it holding it on. My buddy asked a guy and he has said to lube the edges of the cover and put a screwdriver in and to use patience and pry her off. I amt concerned in doing this to say the least. I'll try to loosen whatever I can first.

Also thaks for your reply and I will check out the site that you linked.

Thanks for the help and please keep the advice coming.

peace
