Hey guys;

I was looking to buy a replacement rear bearing carrier as my bearings are noisey/clunky. I was looking at getting the TUSK carrier but it seems they are back ordered.

Does anyone know where I could get one, or if there are any others which are good as replacements?

Also noticed a link or two is pretty stiff on my chain. I presume a new one is the best solution here, and maybe new sprockets. Any recommendations here?

Appreciate the help!
Thanks

First off tusk isnt really all that great. Honestly the only really great one made is made by rpm or lonestar. It really comes down to the bearings they use. I have a lonestar carrier with national bearing i purchased at napa. They use the same bearing as a a/c compressor clutch on a car. Cant remember part number off hand. But you need a carrier to get the duel row bearings to fit the national bearings from napa. I also buy my own seals from a local electric motor rebuild shop. I get triple lip seals with a spring garter. That is the only setup i have found to last more then a season of riding/racing.

No problem. The grease fitting dosnt really do anything though. Just fills an area between the carrier and sleeve. Now if they removed the inner seals on the bearings it would have a purpose. (What i do) you have to be careful though becuase the grease can and will push the outer seals out if you get to crazy pumping. I go real slow and you can feel the resistance in the grease gun to stop you.

Another question for you guys...

When you're taking things a part, do you remove the axle and carrier from the bike all at once, then separate the carrier from the axle, or do you remove the axle from the carrier, then remove the carrier from the bike?

I've also seen a few videos where a tube from the inner part of the carrier appears to be stuck on the axle and needs to be hammered off.

If anyone has any pro-tips for this job I'd greatly appreciate them!

All depends how long you ride it needing a bearings. I have seen it slide right out. I usually slide axle out then carrier out of swingarm. But i have also seen where someone kept riding with it needing bearings and it ruined everything. The inner race seized on the axle and ruined it aswell. Carrier bearings are on my list to check after every ride/race. For that exact reason. It can get expensive quick.

OK, thanks. I'll try to remove the axle, then the carrier separately. I was looking at the RockyMountain ATV video and it showed all sorts of o'rings. (
) Do you think I need to order these, or can I transfer them over from the existing setup?

I just received my new chain, sprockets and Lonestar carrier today. There was no grease zerk on the carrier, but it looks like a nice pieces regardless. The inner tube, isn't aligned with the end bearings, however I imagine it'll slide itself over once the driveshaft is pushed through.

O-rings arent important. Never seize the whole outside of ot. Sleeve will center itself no problem. They probably got rid if the grease zerk since it dosnt do anything lol
