:excl:Greetings, The Rancher ES was turned off while gear was in reverse. It will only start when gear is in neutral. I can't get it back to neutral. Yes, I have tried rocking it. We have 18" of snow coming and I need to get it operational for the plow! ANy ideas? thanks! Vince

Well, I wish I could help, but unfortunately, I don't have any experience with the electric shift. May someone else will come along that knows about them.

Partial resolution:

I was able to maually shift gears via the hex tool that came along with it. The manual switch is by one's lower left foot as you are sitting on the ATV. Fit the hex tool on the screw (located about 6 inches inside your left heel as you are sitting on the machine. Turning it forward, towards the front lowers the gear. Turning it back shifts the gear higher.
I have read on other forums that the rancher es has electrical problems with the gears. Lots of solutions, it seems. looks like I am taking it to the dealer. For now, I can manual shift which will temporariloy allow me to plow and the wife to haul the horse manure.
thanks!

Billy,
Southeastern PA, about 30 min west of Phila. We got walloped with 30 inches. Use the ATV for farm work and plowing the driveway and private raod. Unfortunately, can't ride it off the land, so I don't really "play" with it. btw, another 10 inches coming in 2 days. DO we live in PA or CO?

How to start honda in any gear

With the brake levers pulled you can start the hondas in any gear, I have had to do this when it stalls in deep water or ruff terain with low fuel sloshing around in the tank.:icon_ rocker:

It depends on the year, the newer models you can, but the older models won't. I don't know what year that started making them like that.
