Your Rancher is pre-wired with plug-ins, all you have to do is buy the kit from your Honda dealer and mount them. You can mount one in the front and one in the rear. I mounted mine on the racks, didn't want to cut holes in the plastic but you can pick your own locations.

Just bought a winch for my 2010 Rancher 420. Are all the ranchers pre-wired for a winch and/or other accessories or just the plug-ins?

I bought one from Walmart and installed with a fused wire direct to the battery. Mounted it to the right handle bars. I got the one that has a flap that closes to keep out the water and foul weather.

The 420 Rancher has wiring for the accessory plug, it just doesn't have the accessory plug, which is an available option. If you buy the optional accessory plug, it should just plug in to the wiring harness.
