Were you running it on reserve?

Unscrew the carb drain does fuel run out the hose coming off the bottom? No? No fuel in carb.

Pull the fuel line off the carb and see if fuel runs out—if no then your petcock is clogged

If yes, then your float valve is clogged or float sticking in up position?

you maybe have sucked water and dirt out the bottom of the tank and fouled your carb , open the drain screw on the bottom of the carb and let some fresh fuel run thru it , that is if your petcock or tank screen are not clogged up and fuel is getting to the carb

What year ya got. running the reserve out, much harder to start,.. ya may have to prime, or leave the choke out longer. if it has an electric starter, be careful, of you can burn it up. they cant stand being run long, of repeatedly tried..

Oh a fuelie—you didn’t mention that at first.

Look for the service manuals in my links below and the parts breakouts too. The fuelie has an internal filter. Don’t know what the tank drain looks like either or how to restore the prime on the pump.

First double check that the kill switch is in the "Run" position.

Do you hear the fuel pump running for a second when you turn the key on? If not, bang on the sub-tank with a plastic screwdriver handle and see if the pump starts up when turning the key on.

If the pump starts after tapping on the sub-tank you'll need to replace it immediately because it is about to quit forever. Ranchers have wimpy, junk fuel pumps in them.

Yep , I am not a fuel injected kind of guy , have gone thru a lot of 4 wheelers and have not have a fuelie yet , one thing I have learned from all the Can-nys that come around me , the fuel pumps doesn't like water , they go to the Auto Parts and get a Mazda fuel pump and it is the same thing as a Can-Am , I have helped changed them a few times now

The fuel pump must remain completely submerged in fuel too, else they overheat and smoke the armature bushings outta 'em. So don't run 'em low on fuel, keep the tank filled above half full if the pump is inside the fuel tank. They're chintzy china garbage IMO, even in cars and trucks.

And the most disgusting fact is that a well-built carb outperforms EFI in every category. More torque, fewer emissions, faster throttle response. Costs $$$ for a good carb though, EFI is dirt cheap.

I watched a friend refill his tank with diesel fuel once. Oops!
had a 65 Plymouth valiant, filled at the gas station on the way home. bout 5 or 6 miles later, black smoke started coming out the exhaust, an the car got slower an slower, till it wouldnt run. turns out, when the tanks were filled, at the store, the delivery guy put diesel, in the wrong tank. the store did pay to clean out, my gas tank, plus refill it this time with regular. aint no telling how many other people this happened to..
