i have a 1991 trx 300 4x4. on the front gear case what is proper oil level. book says 6.8 oz. dealer says you need to touch oil with finger through fill hole. i know it takes 10-40 oil.

when i put diff oil in my truck I fill it all the way up untill it starts to come out thats what i was always told to do. My dad always fills his 4x4 quad the same way and 6.8 ounces may be at that level. on my dads quad the fluid amount it requires fills it right up to the hole

sorry im a [email protected]$$. I always follow my book. but i would see if it comes up to the edge like the dealer says, the book is usually the correct source of info pertaining to your quad and the dealers repair men the usually dont even pay attention to you question because the want you to pay them for the servicws needed.

I would side with the book on this one. I don't trust the "stealer's"
