There may be a few of us that hunt ,,,,
Would like to see how you're packing your long guns. I've used a variety of different racks/boots/etc.
Some photos and thoughts are most welcome ....
Thanks,
MM

Its legal to drive around with long guns in Wisconsin unloaded and not in a case.. So I just put my gun, a model 700 slung on my back or on my lap. My AR-15 I run a single point sling on keep it in front of me. I keep my mags in my front coat pocket or depending on where I am at (no way the wardens are out that far) I just keep keep the gun loaded..

if I was going to take a rifle with me on my rides , I would want something I don't know if they make , a water proof , foam lined Pelican case , the kind you can drive a truck on top of and not break it ---would have to mount it on the back fender behind my leg from the floor board up on the angle of the fender

unless its Illegal to NOT use a case, I would never use a case , scabboard or the likes, and my reason is, WAY too many vibrations from atv, to the gun and any scope on it, or even just sights
having had a gun shop, and seeing damages first hand and stories of point of aim going off from being in case's and such, or just stocks getting all marked up(not that I'm a pretty gun type)

I personally on all my ATV trips, I use a sling for rifles and shotguns(AR's too)

if I LEGALLY HAD TO, have a gun in a case, it would be a full size HD hard sided gun case, I most likely have it mounted on my front rack, and have a thick piece of closed cell foam under it, between case and rack, to do as much ANTI Vib as possible to things, I'm sure it would stick out past wheels on each side, but being right in front of me, I could see it and steer around things as needed

I just ain't a fan of having a gun mounted in any gun holding device I have yet to see, just too many vibrations for my likings

a double sling set up would hold it on my back and be able to move freely

NOW< another idea, might be a back pack with a gun holder
that would for sure keep gun mounted solid and on your back and still not get beat with vibrations??
in a pinch, I gather you could strap the pack to the rack and have the gun on top like, and the pack could save it from a lot of vibrations too?, but make sure it mounted very well to that pack or????

This is how i tote mine around, but i do have an atc nos gun rack on front i only use when the bike is parked. Out in the woods or in the yerd, much easier to get to her fast if i see a rodent that needs to be removed.... I never have a shell chambered while i have the rig on my back, i don't care for the vibration on the gun, while ridiing with it in the gun rack.

Nice padded soft sided cases and strapped across the front rack. We have pretty easy, flat terrain though. Wouldn't work for most guys but works for us.
