After doing a little research, I found that the 400ex A arms are an inch wider than the 250x's and bolt right into the 250x mounts, but need longer shocks as the lower mounts will be further out. I also found that the 400ex tie rods will work on the 250x as well.
Soo off to Ebay
I ended up finding some front shocks from a TRX250R which were in great shape internally but looked rough as a cobb for like $6.00 + shipping
Got a complete set of 400ex A arms for only like $20.00 + shipping. Turns out they were bent which wasnt that big a deal, as they were easy to straighten. I knew that the past owner had done some welding on the shock mounts, burning through the plated part of the arm in the process. I ended up cutting the mounts off the arms (smashing the crap out of my thumb w/ a 2 lb hammer!). When I got the mounts off, I found that there was a ton of rust under them, along with cracks from metal fatigue. Ended up grinding out all the rust, welding up the cracks and capping the plated area with 3/16" plate. Not much of a bargan after all!
Got some heavy duty tie rods for a 400ex for under $7 + shpg that took the 250x rod ends. These things were beef, but the threads coulda used some chasing, especially the reverse thread ends. They were a PITA to install and adjust toe in. Last set Ill ever need though!
