Can anyone tell me how to determine is a pulse generator is good or bad? It's on a 1984 Big Red 200es if that helps.

If you are talking about the pick up coil that is part of the stator assembly, then you check the resistance across it with an ohmmeter. I don't know what the resistance should read off hand, but you can find it in a repair manual. If you are talking about the stator itself, then, you check resistance across it with an ohmmeter, just like you would the pick up coil. I think you would be talking about the pick up coil, at least that's what I call it.
