I have no spark on my 1986 trx200sx. I was reading the service manual, it states to test the pulse generator. It states it should read 357 - 393 ohms. Mine is a little over 400, 406 to be exact. Is that close enough to disregard t ? Thank you.

I would trash it, but !, before you do !!, get a new one ( or another used ), and test it like you did the old one, see if your findings are the same ?, if they are ?, maybe your testing them wrong ?, or, they all are that ?..:).

Unsure if it's calibrated to be honest. It's a new stator, just installed it and now have no spark. I tested the excitor coil which the manual stated to do with no spark, it tested within spec.

I'd definitely call that close enough as well. It's a bit higher, but a bad lead/probe can cause more than that 13 Ohm difference you're seeing.

question, do you know if the c.d.i. is good ?, or course not !..lol. they either work ?..or they don't !. a bad c.d.i. won't give you spark for sure, well..it's one of the parts for spark ?, but it's not all of them !. stator, reg/rec, and pulse generator, and spark plug coil is mostly where your spark comes from :).

Yeah what's weird is that it started fine with the original stator, but would not charge. So I'm thinking it's the pulse generator on this new stator. It is a cheaper stator from eBay (not ricks), so I'm thinking there might be a defect. I'm going to try putting the pulse generator from the old stator on the new one. I will do it today more than likely so I will keep you guys posted!

word from the wise !, don't trust ebay after market parts for one ?, and second..never rule out the smallest thing !. before I went tearing parts out and replacing ?, I would have started with the simple stuff, such as dirty kill switch ?, lose grounds ?, ignition switch not working right ?, wrapping on the c.d.i. in most cases shows you if the c.d.i. is bad ?. never start tossing parts at something until you have it narrowed down ! :).

Gotta def agree on the ebay statement. After ripping this thing apart s few times I feel like I would have been better off getting a part that left me with little to no doubt haha. So after reading what you said, and before ripping it apart again, I hit the CDI box with a screwdriver, and it started lol. I don't even know what to think. I'll see how it goes after a few rides. Thanks for that.
